Wondering what to get the travel loving mom in your life? This gift guide is full of the best travel gifts for mom that she’s sure to love!
Deciding on just the right gift for mom can be challenging. If she loves to travel, these ideas for the best travel gifts for mom can help with gift giving inspiration!
Coming from a travel happy family, combined with my own love of travel, this list of travel gifts for mom is from the years of travel between us.
This post is all about travel gifts for mom.
The Best Travel Gifts for Mom
This gift guide contains mostly travel items that my mom or I personally own. For travel items that we don’t, I only recommend products that I have thoroughly researched and that have great reviews.
A beautiful cosmetic case that is functional and can hold all of your toiletries and makeup is a great gift for a traveler! Cosmetic cases can look dingy after a lot of use. That’s what makes this Béis hanging cosmetic case fabulous. It has an interior lining that is water resistant and easy to wipe clean. Plus, it functions as a hanging bag or open on the counter, making it versatile for all travel demands!
The Béis hanging cosmetic organizer sells out quickly, so if you have your eye on it and it’s in stock, snag it!
A passport holder is a travel accessory that isn’t necessary, but is nice to have. You can find these in designer editions to basic ones. I have the older version of the Michael Kors passport holder shown above. It has room to hold cash and cards, as well as a window for your id.
Another great, affordable option is this passport holder on Amazon. This one is designed to hold a vaccine card and a couple of credit cards as well. Perfect for the mom who likes easy, organized access in one place.
My husband and I both have this Béis seatback organizer for when we fly. I love it, and it is on my mom’s wishlist now too. You can find other brands with similar function, but the Béis seatback organizer is my tried and true. It comes in beige and black.
It’s super easy to keep all of your inflight essentials organized and at your fingertips. Even better, you can throw the whole thing in your bag if you have a lay over, and pop it right back in the seat back pocket on your next flight.
My mother-in-law gave me a cashmere scarf for Christmas one year, saying everyone should own at least one piece of cashmere. It makes for a useful, beautiful travel accessory. Not only as a wrap for sight seeing, cold shoulders or as an actual scarf, but also for a blanket or covering legs while sitting.
I really like this cashmere silk scarf from Quince. It’s light weight, made by a sustainable company and is an affordable cashmere piece.
Travel Jewelry Case
Every woman needs a jewelry case for traveling. Both my mom and I have tried several different ones over the years. My favorite by far is one that I bought years ago and can’t find anymore. It is very similar to this Calpak jewelry case.
Actually, this Calpak one is better than mine. It has a place to hang four necklaces without getting them tangled, a spot for rings, and a pouch to hold other accessories protected from each other that won’t mix them up. Plus, it comes in so many colors. This is on my upgrade list!
Perfect for moms who love their weekend getaways! Or for those who travel long enough that they would use a weekend bag with a small suitcase. Better yet? Choose a weekender bag that has a trolley sleeve so it’s super easy to travel with.
This Béis hanging duffle is a dream come true for the organized woman in your life. On the inside is a literal hanging organizer that makes packing and unpacking a breeze! And yes, it has a trolley sleeve!
Personal Item Bag
Ok, clearly I am obsessed with this brand. But it really is that good! A well designed backpack or bag that can be used as a personal item bag is ideal for moms who fly to their destinations. Again, look for the trolley sleeve feature for ease. But also consider one that can be used without a carry on suitcase in tow. You want to find a personal item bag that’s easy to carry across an airport.
This Béis expandable backpack is a chic, functional choice. It can roll with the suitcase by using the trolley sleeve or be worn as a backpack. A favorite feature for me is the hidden water bottle pocket. There’s even a separate laptop section for mom’s who work on the go.
I love packing cubes! You can find them at all different price points, in every color all over the internet. But for a special gift for mom, I’d recommend a high quality, complete set. I absolutely love my Calpak packing cubes! They have mesh so you can see what’s inside, labels and a separate zippered compartment on the back. And like the jewelry case, they come in several color options.
Another set to consider are the Tripped Travel Gear compression packing cubes. I don’t personally own these, but they are on my travel wish list. These compression cubes are highly rated and come in multiple color choices. My favorites are the travel destination and national parks designs. If you have memories of traveling with your mom to any of these places, then it’s an extra special sentimental gift as well.
Recording travel experiences is one of the best ways to revisit those memories. That’s why a travel journal makes a great travel gift for mom. Someday, these adventures can be passed down to grandkids and potentially inspire their own journeys.
A slim profile travel wallet also makes a wonderful gift. You can splurge on a beautiful leather wallet or find super inexpensive ones. Depending on the type of travel the mom in your life does, consider choosing a travel wallet that is rfid.
A small crossbody purse makes an excellent travel gift for mom. It’s small enough to stuff in a suitcase and use upon arrival, or just the right size for car travel. I especially like this crossbody purse, which can be used with interchangeable straps, that Laurie from Travel Tips by Laurie recommends. Because they both come in so many color options, you can create a look that is customized to your recipient.
If your mom is an avid reader like my mom and me, consider treating her to an e-reader. This makes a practical gift for any book lover on the go! My sister and I gifted my mom the latest edition last Christmas. It was the top item on her wishlist.
Who knew there were so many audible subscription options? If mom already has an e-reader, gift her books. You can do a 3 month Audible gift subscription, a 12 month Kindle Unlimited subscription, an Audible Plus Membership, or anything in between!
2-in-1 Hair Styler
A 2-in-1 hair styling tool is one of my favorite travel essentials. Both my mom and I have this L’ange hair duo styler. It straightens and curls your hair. Plus, the profile of this amazing one-and-done product is smaller than my standard curling iron.
Travel Massage Gun
Help mom relieve those sore muscles from traveling! Unlike days of youth, travel is physically harder on your body as you age. Heavy bags, a long haul flight or drive, busy days of walking… these can all lead to tense muscles and body aches. A travel sized massage gun is the perfect solution!
Maybe a massage doesn’t fit in a suitcase, but what a fabulous gift for when mom returns from her travels!
I am a huge fan of Vera Bradley blankets. They wash up well, keep their color and stay soft. Not only have I gifted Vera blankets multiple times, I own a few as well. I call them my adult blankies; they are that good!
This Cabeau travel neck pillow comes highly recommended. The back is flat, so you don’t have any awkward forward motion from a thick back. It can snap together under your chin to keep your head in place while sleeping or to latch it to your carry on.
I go back and forth on travel neck pillows. They are bulky to carry around, but sure convenient! I only use a travel pillow for long haul travel that isn’t broken up.
A pair of lux slippers that can easily squish in between packing layers are a thoughtful travel gift for mom. Something soft and squishy on your feet after a day of walking is like heaven. Plus, it’s a nice layer of warmth against bare floors and a sanitization layer from questionable carpeting.
Perfect for long flights, compression socks apply pressure to your lower legs and helps keep the blood circulating. These Bombas compression socks also keep your feet dry from perspiration. As a less expensive option, you can buy a pack on Amazon and break them up amongst the travelers in your life.
Sad, but true, as we age more pills are needed. These my be prescription medications for chronic conditions or supplements to boost your health. A pill box with days of the week is a great gift for any traveler. If your mom needs medications twice a day, consider a pill box with a.m. and p.m. pockets.
Treat mom to new sunnies for an upcoming holiday. Something fun or a pair she’s been eyeing will make her day! If she has prescription sunglasses, a new case for them is a solid alternative.
Keyring Photo Album
Let your mom show off her travel, kids or grandkids with this adorable photo album that fits on a keyring. I’ve gifted this several times. It’s a perfect personalized keepsake!
Hopefully, this list has given you some ideas of travel gifts for mom that she’s sure to love!
